E. D. Morin
E. D. (Elaine) Morin writes, edits and makes books in her home province of Alberta. Her work has been published in New Forum, Fiction Southeast, The Antigonish Review, Alternatives Journal, Alberta Views and Freefall, and produced for broadcast on CBC radio. A past winner of the Brenda Strathern Writing Prize, she has also been shortlisted for The Malahat Review Open Season Award and the UK Impress Prize. Her first publication, Castrations Lessons, was birthed as a limited-run short story chapbook. Writing Menopause: An Anthology of Fiction, Poetry and Creative Nonfiction, a literary anthology Elaine edited with Jane Cawthorne, was published by Inanna Publications in 2017. Their second book, Impact: Women Writing After Concussion, comes out in September 2021 with University of Alberta Press.
For ten seasons, Elaine helped direct the popular Calgary reading series Writing in the Works. She has taught creative writing at York University, the Alexandra Writers’ Centre and in Calgary public schools. When she isn’t editing or writing or yakking about books, she can usually be found running around outside, whipping up weird phrases in her head. Her work covers women’s stories, gender and the lives of misfits.
[She] looks down at the slow ground and thinks of traveling, spidering her own map over the intricate roads of the world.
